Not only are we basketball moms, but we can now add another title under our belts: teacher!
Granted, we’ve always been teachers to our kids, but lately, we are actual teachers – instructing lessons, guiding classes, and all that good stuff.
I don’t know about you but homeschool is definitely an adjustment. However, over the last couple of weeks, we jotted down some tips that make life with homeschool better for all of us!
Don’t change your sleep schedule: it’s tempting, I know, but try not to adjust your sleep schedule. Your kids will suffer from this in the long run. Go to bed at your usual time, as if you were waking up to drive to school the next day and influence your children to do the same. When school and sports resume, they won’t be completely off track in terms of their sleep.
Utilize Zoom, Facetime, Skype, and other online platforms: our kids are really missing their friends. Socialization hasn’t been a factor for a while now, so it’s always a good idea to encourage your kids to keep their friendships strong through these online platforms (after their homework is finished, of course).
Break out of the at-the-desk routine – true, we can’t venture out much, but you can sit outside! So, encourage your child to enjoy class outside (if weather permits). A little sunshine and wind really do a lot for their spirits.
Read – now is the time to encourage your child to read. Between basketball practices and games, reading new books is not always possible. However, now that we have more time at home, encourage your child to pick up a new book.
